YIELD Ethiopia recently visited Addis Fana Primary School in Areka town, Wolaita, where we witnessed an inspiring and inclusive approach to education. One of the most remarkable initiatives at the school is a special support program for over-age students who are in lower grades. Through the guidance of a specially trained teacher, selected students are supported to complete two grade levels within one academic year—helping them catch up and regain confidence in their learning journey.
During the visit, meaningful discussions were held on areas of collaboration to strengthen this effort and ensure that no child is left behind. Education equity remains at the heart of this initiative. YIELD Ethiopia also identified key areas where resources can be mobilized to further enhance the school’s impactful work.
The visit was led by Monica Haile Mekore, Program Coordinator, who engaged with the school leadership to explore practical ways forward. Together, we can create pathways for every child to learn, grow, and succeed.
