Vision, Mission, and Core Values

Our Vision

To foster resilient, peaceful, and self-reliant communities in South Ethiopia where children are protected and retained in school, youth thrive as digital and green innovators, women lead economic transformation, and the environment is safeguarded for generations to come.

Our Mission

To promote and restore human dignity through integrated programs in education, nutrition, livelihoods, peacebuilding, gender justice, and ecological stewardship—deeply rooted in community participation and faith-inspired values.

Our Core Values

  • Dignity First: We treat every beneficiary not as a passive recipient of charity but as a dignified partner of professional services.
  • Subsidiarity & Participation: We ensure those most affected by decisions are actively involved in the design, management, and governance of our initiatives.
  • Solidarity: A firm commitment to the common good, linking the "cry of the earth" with the “cry of the poor.”
  • Stewardship: Faithful, transparent, and highly efficient management of environmental, human, and financial resources.
  • Justice & Inclusion: No one left behind. We champion fairness, equity, and dignity—ensuring no one is left behind.

Core Focus Areas

At YIELD Ethiopia, we focus on helping people live with dignity by tackling the root causes of poverty. We work in South Ethiopia through four main areas:

1. Helping Children Thrive We make sure kids have the food and support they need to succeed in school. We provide daily school meals, extra tutoring for important exams, and work to keep children safe from exploitation.

2. Creating Youth Opportunities To give young people a better future at home, we provide training in digital and green skills, along with support to start their own businesses. This helps them find good work locally so they don't have to risk dangerous migration.

3. Empowering Women We help women gain financial independence by forming savings groups and learning business skills. We also train women to act as community leaders and peacebuilders to help resolve local conflicts.

4. Protecting the Environment We work with communities to restore the land and provide clean water. We train families in climate-friendly gardening so they can grow their own food and have a healthier, more sustainable environment.

Who YIELD Ethiopia Serve

  • Vulnerable Children: Kids facing hunger or lacking school access.
  • Unemployed Youth: Young people seeking training and jobs.
  • Women & Girls: Those pursuing financial independence.
  • Struggling Families: Households breaking the cycle of poverty.
  • Underserved Communities: Areas lacking essential infrastructure.
  • At-Risk Youth: Individuals needing specialized support.
  • Elderly Caregivers: Seniors needing community assistance.

Our Operational Standards: Built for Trust

YIELD Ethiopia is a registered, board-led organization committed to three core standards of accountability:

  • The 80/20 Rule: We ensure 80% of all resources go directly to field programs, capping administrative costs at 20%.
  • Zero-Tolerance Safeguarding: We maintain strict, confidential policies to prevent any form of exploitation, abuse, or harassment.
  • Community-Led Design: We treat the people we serve as partners, actively using their feedback to shape and improve our work.
